The first interesting thing that I learned about in this chapter was about virtual manipulative's. The chapter spoke about how these can be used as a way to integrate technology into a math class. It talked about how how now students can use technology to simulate activities rather than real objects. Another interactive software for math is interactive or dynamic geometry software. This seems like a very useful thing in the classroom because students can experiment with geometry problems. Another interesting idea was the communicating about math. This is something that I think most people do not think about, but it is a good idea. The other thing is that I could use programs to have students make scientific discoveries that they would not be able to make in a classroom experiment.
I think that the most important thing to take from this chapter and use in my classroom is using technology in a math class. It would be pretty easy to forget about tech in math, but it can be very useful for students.
The question that I have for this chapter is how often teachers actually use technology in math, and what kind of technologies they use the most.
